Los Altos Hills

The most prestigious city in Santa Clara County, according to the McCormack Guide. Can't argue with them. Many of Silicon Valley's biggest names reside here. The home prices reflect that. (See table below.)
The city is zoned for minimum one-acre lots and has homes match. But don't think you can come in, tear-down a home and build a palace. The city won't let you. In fact, the city has a handbook detailing what it wants to see.
The housing is almost exclusively single-family homes. Out of 2,819 total housing units, there are 24 attached, 31 multiples and 4 mobile homes. That last is hard to believe, but that's what the state is reporting.
Another interesting statistic, hardly anyone gets divorced: 4%. Living in Shangri-La has its benefits.
